Weekday

Students will have time to work in study groups, 参加学生音乐会, 或者和朋友一起享受空闲时间. 夏天的家伙 are on duty to support students and foster a safe and happy environment.

每个周末都有活动, activities, and opportunities to visit attractions in the surrounding area — as well as ample free time to relax, 花时间和朋友在一起, 记日记, 进城去, or study. Regular clinic hours are held Monday through Friday, and a reduced schedule on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the Portals physician and nurse is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies. 如果有必要的话, students may be admitted to the Health Center for short-term observation during the day. They may also be referred to medical and surgical specialists at Sharon Hospital, an eight-minute drive from campus.

图书馆, located in the 主要建筑 near the Dining Hall, is open during designated hours throughout the day. In addition to its extensive collection of books, movies, 以及参考资料, the library provides an ideal place to study, 与读书, 躺椅, tables, 还有小组自习室, as well as two media viewing rooms. 图书馆 also offers access to a wide range of online databases to support the research needs of 夏天门户 students.

校园邮局, 平日开放, is capable of addressing all routine needs during the summer session. It is located on the lower level of the 主要建筑.

Located in the Coy Hall Business Office, the Security Office provides comprehensive service to insure the safety and well-being of the Hotchkiss Portals community. The campus is patrolled 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Security responds to all emergencies on campus and investigates all safety concerns from students, faculty, fellows, and staff. Security personnel cover the switchboard 24 hours a day. Security can be reached from any of the dorm phones by dialing "0.” Anyone calling from outside Hotchkiss or on a cell phone should dial (860) 435-2591.

夏天的家伙 are responsible for every aspect of student 住宅 life. They live in the dorms, manage classroom programs, and advise.

Each student has a Summer Fellow as an advisor, who serves as the primary resource for all academic and personal needs. Students are encouraged to check in with their advisors on a regular basis. At the end of the program, advisors send home written reports on each of their advisees.

Dormitory floors are staffed with a summer fellow to enforce community rules (see the Portals Student Handbook for an overview of dormitory guidelines) and create a fun, 热情好客的氛围. Most students will have the opportunity to live with a roommate from a different program. All dorm rooms have fans and some dormitories have air conditioning.
